The Comminution of Silage materials

27th May 2015

Comminution has one principal aim, the production of a homogeneous sample and this aim applies equally to both hard, brittle materials, such as metals and elastic materials with high water content, such as fresh grass silage.

This application note discusses the comminution of silage products, as a sample preparation procedure, for further investigations into their role as substrates for Biogas product. 250ml grinding bowls made of sintered corundum were found to be most effective for the task in conjunction with 30 mm balls.
