YSI introduces the Mindray BS-120, a sophisticated fully automated compact chemistry analyser which is designed to suit the needs of the smaller laboratory where testing is low volume and/or samples arrive one by one.  It's ideal for the small lab environment as well as for use as a backup analyser or in clinics and other medical facilities with light to moderate throughput requirements.

The Mindray BS-120 is capable of performing as many as 100 tests in an hour, with throughput of as high as 300 tests per hour being possible with the addition of an optional ISE module. This module not only triples the throughput capacity of this chemistry analyser, but also permits the instrument to be used for the measurement of other chemistries, namely Li+, Cl, Na+ and K+.

The instrument is as easy to use and economical as it is versatile. The Mindray BS-120's hardware and software design is made with user friendliness in mind and the analyser is designed to use inexpensive disposable cuvettes. The compact size is also an element in its low cost of operation; reaction volumes may be as small as 180 µl. It's incredibly simple to run analysis on the BS-120 chemistry analyser. Samples can  be placed in the tray after being labeled and centrifuged and the patient's information entered into the software - and from there, it's fully automatic, with a real-time display of status during operation.

Multiple virtual trays are possible with the system's software, allowing for the input of the position information of a second tray even as the first is being analyzed. STAT exams can be done immediately without causing any interruption to undergoing operations.

The BS-120 features a dual purpose reagent/sample tray which may be removed with ease, placed into a refrigerated compartment as needed and is easy to load, reload and split between reagent and sample functions.

Safety hasn't been left out of the design either, with features including liquid level detection, vertical collision protection, auto stirrer washing between actions, carryover avoidance and depth adjustment for aspirating and dispensing probe washing all built into this compact chemistry analyser. An optional bar code reader is also available for this product, allowing laboratory personnel to recognize reagents and samples automatically, adding to the convenience of this system and eliminating costly operator errors.
