Who Is Dr. Tel?
Of small dark rooms and BBC comedy
One day I wandered out of the laboratory, in search of daylight and fresh air, and ended up in Broadcasting House. The BBC seemed to think I was funny and gave me some dozen commissions, writing for a variety of shows you may even have heard of; Rory Bremner seemed to think I was funny as well – so I wrote for him too.
I never looked back.
Except of course I did. You do not spend as long as I did ‘doing’ science at all levels – from lab tech to lecturer – without it leaving a lasting impression; especially if, like me, you are passionate about the subject. I have strong opinions about how science is done, portrayed, funded and supported and now I have been given the opportunity to tell you all about them. Oh deary me.
‘Houston, the Ego has landed.’
By day I write films, animation, plays, (drama and comedy) and now this, but at night I still dream of freeze-fracture replication.
